Singapore plans to launch fixed-price land tender for a proposed not-for-profit private hospital

The proposed hospital would definitely be able to house 300 to 400 beds, and provide even more lower-cost special medical care choices, media reports mentioned Ong as saying.

The land is going to be given through a fixed-price tender. Under this approach, bidders will certainly be reviewed on qualitative standards entailing their care model, expense effectiveness, technique to seeking and developing manpower, and their dedication and plans towards affordable healthcare, stated Health Minister Ong Ye Kung.

He publicized the plans on April 9 at an anniversary activity for Mount Alvernia Hospital– currently the only not-for-profit private acute hospital in Singapore.

The planned not-for-profit exclusive healthcare facility will certainly build on the authorities’ initiatives to rein in exclusive health care costs and increasing insurance fees.

Singapore’s last exclusive healthcare facility land tender was operated in 2008. On the area, the 333-bed Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital opened up in 2012 at a cost of $2 billion, of which about $1.25 billion had gone into the land procurement, The Straits Times reported.

To make certain cheaper costs, the state intends to specify prerequisites in the tender documentations, adding the fixed-price model. It will also enforce restrictions on bill sizes, topping them at a certain percentile of the market.

“There are still a couple of essential concerns we have to deal with, and I hope we are able to address them and arrive at a resolution in the 2nd part of the year, to release the tender,” he added.

The Singapore state is seeking to release a site in the eastern portion of the island for a new not-for-profit exclusive acute health center, in what would be the initial land launch for exclusive health centers in close to twenty years.
